Born on the South Side of Chicago and raised in western Washington, founder Jovan Willis studied Broadcasting and Electronic Media at Gonzaga University before serving 8 years in the U.S. Army as an Air Traffic Controller—an operational crucible where split-second technical precision and absolute regulatory compliance were the baseline for safety.

Following medical retirement from active duty, Jovan earned his Bachelor of Science in Audio Production from Full Sail University (2022) and founded Iron Pen Studios in July 2020 to bring clinical metrology to audio post-production.

Today, we combine tactical military systems discipline, broadcasting pedigree, and formal audio engineering. We reject automated computer mastering mills and treat audio post-production as a rigorous discipline of science, character, and craftsmanship. Seek the everlasting.

Our active monitoring baseline features PreSonus Eris 5 professional studio monitors paired with a PreSonus Temblor T8 active subwoofer, integrated into a Primacoustic London 12 acoustic panel system to eliminate room reflections and low-frequency masking.

Operating at a strictly regulated reference volume of 79 dB SPL, we conduct hyper-transparent critical listening sessions that reveal the absolute acoustic truth of your raw audio signal.

Your audio assets are restored using natively licensed iZotope RX 12 Standard for advanced spectral repair, while sample-rate conversion, dithering, and final mastering assembly are executed inside DSP-Quattro 6 through a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 audio interface.
